Ready for Adoption....

Please be aware that there are fees for adopting a horse. Adoption fees are charged to help defer the costs of rehabilitating the horse. Adoption fees will vary and will be based on the horse's capabilities, health and the amount of training involved in order to place them. All adoption fees are returned to NMHRR, a non-profit corporation, so that we may continue to care for new arrivals. People interested in adopting one of these horses must be able to provide references and be able to properly maintain the health and well being of a adopted horse. We carefully match horses and families with one another, both to prevent future problems and be sure that this becomes a permanent home for the horse. More information on what we expect from potential adopters can be found on our Adoption Guidelines page, by calling Beth at 989-350-2971 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by emailing northernmichiganrescue@charter.net.

My True Destiny....

Destiny is 3 yr. old TB filly who was rather abused when younger and then came to us when the woman who 'rescued' her had an accident and was no longer able to care for her. Destiny is overcoming a lot of issues but has become a more confident, trusting, sweet little girl with kisses for everyone and a willingness to learn.  She is currently working on ground manners, learning to longe, properly and started with saddling.   She is sound and her hooves are healthy. She already stands over 15 2 and will be a tall horse.  Reportedly, her sire was over 17 hands high and her dam was over 16 hands high.  Destiny is a pretty mover and has worn a saddle.  She will load and trailer but becomes impatient when not moving. She has a very limited tolerance towards fly spray but is marginally better with the hose.  She enjoys being groomed but can be hesitant when facing new challenges.  Destiny responds very well to gentle guidance and will be a beautiful mare. Vaccinations, worming and farrier are all up to date. Destiny's adoption fee is $500.00 and payment arrangements can be made. If interested, please contact Beth at northernmichiganrescue@charter.net or 989-350-2971 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m..

Crimson.....

Crimson is a sorrel, 4 year old grade mare, approximately 14 HH. She is a affectionate, playful and very social little horse. Crimson has been broke to saddle, accepts a bit and is now fine tuning her power steering. She has had a younger rider on her with saddle, while being led around at a walk. Although she has not been formerly tested for obstacles yet, Crimson should do well as she appears to fear very little and is a very curious little girl. Crimson came to us with a wire cut that had become infected. It is healing nicely and she has been cleared by the vet for work. Great confirmation and able to get her legs under her. Crimson has tons of potential as a 4H project and/or trail horse and learns very quickly. Her adoption fee is $500.00 and payment arrangements can be made. Please contact Beth at northernmichiganrescue@charter.net or 989-350-2971 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for more information.

CrackerJack......

CrackerJack is a 8 year old Breeding Stock Paint, 15.1 HH. He is broke to ride and has been ridden by experienced riders but due to an extremely abusive past, he is tense although improving, as he gains trust and confidence. He has excellent ground manners, stands for the farrier, trailers and is an extremely easy keeper. CrackerJack can be timid but is very willing to listen, learn and work. CrackerJack's ground work include obstacles and desensitization exercises. A gentle handler with patience is mandatory and CrackerJack would do very well with someone who has past experience dealing with abused animals. He needs one on one attention and someone very special to help him become the incredible horse he has the potential to be. He is also overcoming his fears related to hoses, bathing and spray bottles. CrackerJack's adoption fee is $500.00 and payment arrangements can be made. Please contact Beth at northernmichiganrescue@charter.net or 989-350-2971 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for more information.

Lady....

They don't get much cuter than this!! Lady is a 22 year old Mustang, under 14 HH, who came from the wild Mustang rescue when she was 2. Her ears were trimmed at that time due to frostbite so she now looks somewhat like a teddy bear. Lady is very laid back and has been a 4H and trail horse for over 15 years. She is very sound and is currently the project of a 9 year old who is teaching her to slow down and be kid safe. At this point, Lady has done everything we've asked of her and enjoys working so much that she has put herself in the tack up stall. Lady also ties, stands for the farrier, bathes, clips and passed the obstacles evaluation. Please contact Beth at northernmichiganrescue@charter.net or 989-350-2971 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for more information.
